Born with poor eyesight, the blurry world provided a steady stream of intrigue for Christine Sciulli. After getting glasses, she was a constant fixture in her father’s wood and metal shop.
Christine Sciulli's video projection works and interventions have been seen on the streets of Manhattan, in New York area galleries and at The Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. Her 2005 solo show, COVER, was a Voice Choice: "projections...imbued with fresh, though enigmatic, meaning through intelligently deployed technology."
Her collaborations with composers have been shown in European and American festivals. Sciulli recently completed a video and light installation for the September 2007 Mabou Mines waterfront piece, Song for New York: What Women Do While Men Sit Knitting by Ruth Maleczech. “… a distinctly urban feel, magnified by a glittering lighting design by Christine Sciulli”. (Melena Ryzik, Portable Theatre, New York Times, 31 August 2007.) Upcoming projects for 2008 include her second solo show with Chi Contemporary Fine Art, and Plugged In: an interactive public art show in Hudson, NY.
She holds an Architectural Engineering degree from Penn State University, graduating on a full Besal Scholarship, and a BFA and an MFA in Combined Media from Hunter College, where she was awarded the Esther Fish Perry Award, BFA merit award, and the Leutz/Reidel Grant for study in the Netherlands. She also received an International Association of Lighting Designers Award of Merit for work with Thomas Thompson in 2000 on Samsung's Rodin Pavilion.
